Creating a Wrapped Loop for a Pendant or Earring
Creating a Wrapped Loop for a Pendant or Earring
This is a progression on the simple loop technique. Wrapped loops are more decorative, more secure, and add a more professional finish to your jewellery.

Step 1:
Slide a bead onto a headpin or eye pin. Grip the wire with chain nose pliers directly above the bead. Bend the wire over at 90 degrees directly above the pliers, creating a right-angled bend a little way above the bead.
Step 2:
Take the round nose pliers and grip the wire so that the lower jaw of the pliers sits in the bend made in the previous step, and the upper jaw grips the wire beyond the bend. Pull the wire up and over the upper jaw of the pliers, bringing the wire all the way around until it hits the lower jaw of the pliers.
Step 3:
To complete the loop, remove the round nose pliers from the half loop you have made and insert the lower jaw into the loop. You will now be able to bend the wire around the complete the loop.
Step 4:
Grip the loop with chain nose pliers and wrap the wire around and back down toward the bead.
Step 5:
Snip off any excess wire with nippers, and pinch the end in with chain nose pliers, so that it is tucked in neatly.
